Industrial Heritage of Newbridge

A Photographic History

Do you remember the Gasworks in Chapel Lane, Mallick’s Mineral Water Company, The Last Factory, Sanderson’s, Newbridge Industries, Rotary Screens, Killdara Spinning, Costello’s Sawmills, The Brick Factory, Polaroid, Newbridge Sanitary Steam Laundry….or did you work in these companies or any manufacturing industry in Newbridge, Irish Ropes, Newbridge Silverware, Curragh Carpets, Bord na Mona or any other industrial company between the years 1900 and the 1970’s?

If so Newbridge Tidy Towns Association is asking for your help.

Newbridge Tidy Towns Association is currently researching a project to gather photographs showing the rich and varied Industrial Heritage of Newbridge from the start of the last century to the 1970’s.

Do you have photographs of Industry in Newbridge, which you would be willing to lend to our Association, where with your permission the photograph will be scanned (copied) onto a computer, and from which a selection will be made for placing on public display during Heritage Week in September 2008. All photographs will be returned to their owners once they have been copied.

The Association are calling on owners, directors and people who worked in the various industries in Newbridge to contact them if there are any photographs available, which could be used in this project.

Are you a photographer, professional or ameteur, or do you have some old photographs in storage which might be of interest in this project - if so please contact the undersigned.
