This is an excellent result for Newbridge – there were seven out of ten sites surveyed which got the top litter grade and this included the four approach roads. Most of the top ranking sites were not just clear of litter but very well presented e.g. Central Car Park and Patrician Primary School. There were three moderately littered sites – Liffey Terrace, Main Street and Newbridge Railway Station.
R445 Naas Approach Road:
Clean to European Norms.
A clean and fresh approach road – grass area in good condition – clear of litter.
Patrician Primary School:
Clean to European Norms.
The grounds of the school were in meticulous condition. Clearly the school is well respected by the users.
Liffey Terrace:
Moderately Littered.
Not much effort is required for this residential area to get the top litter grade. The freshly mown grass has revealed some paper litter and plastic bottles.
Main Street:
Moderately Littered.
This site just missed getting the top litter grade –a quick clean up and this could easily be achieved.
‘Whitewater’ Shopping Venue:
Clean to European Norms.
A recently paved shopping area – fresh, clean and very well maintained. Clear of litter.
Central Car Park:
Clean to European Norms.
The road surface / signage / markings were in excellent condition. This was a very well presented and maintained car park.
Newbridge Railway Station:
Moderately Littered.
The overall presentation of this station was not as good as others throughout the country. There was a definite litter presence – much of it was food related. No signage indicating station – surveyor had to ask where it was.
Milltown Approach Road (past Railway Station):
Clean to European Norms.
An excellent approach – very clean, fresh and well maintained.
R416 Kilcullen Approach Road:
Clean to European Norms.
Despite high levels of traffic this road was clear of litter.
R445 Kildare Approach Road:
Clean to European Norms.
The high standards of the other approach roads into Newbridge have been sustained along this fourth route – immaculately presented – enhanced by flowers and grass verges.
