Result of IBAL Adjudication .

September 2004.
Newbridge has seen a decrease in the litter levels in 2004. There were no sites with significant accumulations of litter but the Main Street has performed worse in Survey 2 than Survey 1. There has been some improvement at the Industrial Estate but it still requires some attention.

Dublin Approach Road
Littered.
While the grass had been cut recently it would appear that the litter was ignored. There were mineral cans, fast food wrappers, plastic wrapping and cigarette butts all present. In particular, there were some glass bottles. Much of this litter seems to be the result of some people having picnics. Litter Awareness notices would be appropriate along this stretch of road.

National Schools Area
Clean to European Norms.
This site continued with the Grade A it obtained in Survey 1, 2004. It was in excellent condition and completely spotless.

Riverside Park
Clean to European Norms.
This area was completely clear of litter and the litter bins were in very good condition. Overall it has scored very well.

Patrician Secondary School
Littered.
Large amounts of cigarette butts prevented this site from getting a higher cleanliness grade. There were no cigarette butt disposal facilities and it would appear that one is greatly needed. Apart from this the area looked well.

Scoil Connlach Naomha
Clean to European Norms.
There has been an improvement here from Grade B in Survey 1, 2004 to a Grade A. There were no cigarette butt despite the lack of facilities for the disposal of same. Overall this was a very good site.

Main Street
Serious Litter Problem.
There has been a deterioration to a Grade C from a Grade B in Survey 1, 2004. Despite the installation of several cigarette butt units, particularly outside offices and pubs, cigarette butts remain the most common litter type. However, there were also some sweet papers, chewing gum and fast food wrappers. The road signage was in good condition and the condition of the litter bins was mixed.

Georges Street
Littered.
Cigarette butt units have been installed since last litter survey yet they still remain a major problem. The litter bins were in excellent condition and sweet papers and chewing gum were the only other litter types present.

Ard na Habhann
Clean to European Norms.
This site continues to be excellent. It was completely clear of litter and was in good condition.

Industrial Estate
Serious Litter Problem.
There has been a minor improvement from a Grade D to a Grade C. However, things are still very poor at this industrial estate. As well as a wide variety of litter types there was a supermarket trolley and some plastic present. Individual properties need to be addressed to tackle this major problem.

Tesco Shopping Centre
Littered.
This shopping area was a Grade C in Survey 1, 2004 and has improved to a Grade B. On the whole the area is well kept by Tesco and fast food wrappers and cigarette butts take away from an otherwise very good site. The road signage was good and the recycle facility is cleaned weekly.
