About Us

Droichead Nua or Newbridge
Your Town – It’s easy to make a difference
A nice place to live, work and do business in
Fáilte / Welcome to our website

Newbridge Tidy Towns Association was originally set-up by the then Droichead Nua Town Commission in the early 1970’s, in an effort to encourage the town’s community to work together to improve the appearance of Newbridge, thus making the town a more attractive place in which to live, work and do business in.

The Association continues to work on various projects designed to enhance the appearance of the Town, and these projects are organised and co-ordinated by the Association which works closely with Kildare County Council. Our Councillors and Council Officials are very supportive of the Tidy Towns Association, and we wish to acknowledge that it would be very difficult for our association to progress improvement projects without the financial and practical support of the Local Authorities.

The support received from Newbridge Residents Associations, the Business and Industrial Community, and the support of every individual resident is critical to enhance the appearance of Newbridge, and in the promotion of improved civic spirit, pride in our community, and awareness of our environment.

The Association also co-ordinate the Towns entry into the National Tidy Towns Competition  each year.

Please explore our website, think about how you could become involved in the work of your local Tidy Towns Association, contact us with your ideas or suggestions, let us have your feedback, and perhaps we could all work together to enhance the appearance of Newbridge.

Would you like to join us and help in whatever way you can?

If you could volunteer for ONE HOUR per week it would be very welcome.

The Primary Aims of Newbridge Tidy Towns Association are:

  • To enhance the appearance of our town in a planned and co-ordinated way, making the town a more attractive place to live, work and enjoy the many recreational facilities available to the population;
  • To raise awareness of local environmental issues among the residential, business and school-going community;
  • To promote the environmental, community and historical assets of the town;
  • To encourage Residents, Retailers, Business and Industrial concerns to maintain their estates and premises, and show them to best effect;
  • To identify “black spots” and “problem areas”, and develop strategies to deal with them effectively;
  • To address the topics included in the National Tidy Towns Competition, and address issues raised in the annual adjudication report;

As a Tidy Towns Association, we maintain contact with Councillors and County Council Officials, and provide commentary / proposals from a community perspective, and lobby for better and more effective local government services;
